Write the recommendation in your words
After a visit, note what the clinician believes the treatment is intended to address and why it is being considered. List the exact product if one was proposed, the alternatives discussed, and the important risks you remember. Mark gaps rather than filling them with internet assumptions.
Sort the unanswered questions
Separate clinical questions from practical ones. For example, why treatment fits your history is different from how appointments or fees work. Send questions through the appropriate channel and ask whether another visit is needed. If you seek another opinion, request the original records so the next clinician can review the same information.
Clarify what happens while you decide
Ask whether any follow-up is needed even if you postpone the treatment choice and whom to contact if your circumstances change. Confirm financial terms before paying for a package. Do not start, stop, or alter an existing prescription from this guide; ask the clinician responsible for that treatment for individual instructions.
Make the conversation yours
Questions to take with you.
- What part of the recommendation do I still need explained?
- Would another conversation or opinion help?
- What care, if any, is needed while I decide?
